What the Race Actually Is

The Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race is considered one of the longest-running adventure races in the U.S. and is a true multi-sport navigation event set in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. Teams and solo competitors are placed on a course that tests endurance, strategy, skill, and teamwork.

🔹 Race Disciplines Typically Include:

  • Trail Running & Trekking — Cover rugged forested trails, mountainsides, and off-trail terrain.

  • Mountain Biking — Riders navigate single-track and fire roads using only a race map.

  • Paddling — Canoeing or kayaking sections on the scenic Toccoa River and nearby lakes may be included.

  • Navigation — Teams rely on map and compass skills rather than marked routes, adding an orienteering component.
