Big Canoe Golf Getaway

Plan a North Georgia Golf Getaway in Big Canoe

Whether you're a seasoned golfer or a beginner, Big Canoe promises an unforgettable experience. Big Canoe is not just a golf destination - it's a vibrant community. It sits in the breathtaking North Georgia mountains where golfers can enjoy three beautifully designed courses. Each one provides a distinct experience to cater to different skill levels. The Big Canoe golf courses include Creek, Choctaw, and Cherokee courses each have their own charm.

Big Canoe Golf Course, Driving Range and Practice Greens

Designed by renowned golf course architect Joe Lee, Big Canoe’s golf course has been a signature North Georgia experience since 1972. The community features 27 scenic holes divided into three distinct 9-hole courses: Creek, Choctaw, and Cherokee. Each course offers its own personality, giving golfers the flexibility to enjoy 9, 18, or 27 holes during their stay.

Set among the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Big Canoe golf combines beautiful scenery with a rewarding mountain course layout. Players can expect a mix of elevation changes, wooded fairways, water features, bunkers, and thoughtful shot-making opportunities. Along the way, the course offers views of mountain peaks, peaceful streams, wooded valleys, and Lake Sconti.

To help plan your golf experience, here is a quick snapshot of each course:

1. Big Canoe Creek Course

The Big Canoe Creek Course is a golfer's dream. Known as Big Canoe’s lake course, Creek winds around Lake Sconti and offers some of the most scenic golf views in the community. This course is a favorite for guests who want a classic Big Canoe golf experience with water views, mountain charm, and a memorable finish near the clubhouse.

Golfers will appreciate a golf course with rolling hills and creeks:

  • Thoughtfully designed holes
  • Enchanting creek crossings
  • Beautiful natural landscapes

2. Big Canoe Choctaw Course

The Big Canoe Choctaw Course offers a more relaxed golfing experience. The Choctaw Course offers a beautiful valley setting with rolling terrain and elevation changes that make each hole feel unique. Golfers will enjoy a course that rewards smart club selection and strategic play while showcasing the natural beauty of Big Canoe.

3. Big Canoe - Cherokee Course

The Cherokee Course stands out with its strategic, yet breathtaking design. It integrates the natural contours of the land beautifully. Golfers enjoy the challenge of its varying terrains and elevations. This course offers more than just a game. It's an experience of strategic shots and winding fairways. The Cherokee Course promises an engaging round amidst stunning scenery.

Golfers can expect more of a challenging golf day at the Big Canoe Cherokee Course:

  • Elevation changes adding challenge
  • Spectacular mountain vistas
  • A well-balanced course design

Cherokee remains a favorite among seasoned golfers. It provides the right mix of challenge and charm. Revel in the scenery as the course tests your strategic abilities.

Practice Facilities, Golf Carts & Pro Shop

Before your round, take advantage of Big Canoe’s practice facilities, including the driving range, putting areas, chipping area, and practice greens. The Golf Pro Shop is also available for tee time assistance, golf essentials, apparel, and current information about rates, policies, and course conditions.

Golf carts are available for play and make it easy to navigate the mountain terrain, scenic fairways, and elevation changes throughout the course.

Golf Access for Vacation Rental Guests

One of the benefits of staying inside the Big Canoe community is access to private community amenities, including golf. Big Canoe golf is available to property owners, guests of owners, and guests staying in approved Big Canoe vacation rental homes within the community. Because the golf course is not a public course, guests can enjoy a more private and relaxed setting during their stay.

Big Canoe Golf Club House

The Clubhouse at Lake Sconti

After a round of golf, guests can relax and take in the views from the Clubhouse at Lake Sconti, located above the Big Canoe Golf Pro Shop. Overlooking Lake Sconti, the ninth fairway of the Creek Course, the clubhouse is a scenic place to unwind after a day on the course.

For dining, guests can visit Mountains Grill or stop by the Black Bear Pub for a drink and casual conversation. The clubhouse offers a full bar, and themed dinner buffets may be available on select evenings.

Important: Reservations are recommended for dining room and veranda seating, while walk-ins may be available, especially at the bar.
