The Perch is located in Big Canoe, a gated mountain community in Jasper, GA, approximately 62 minutes from Blue Ridge and about an hour from Atlanta. The community offers access to hiking trails, a lake, and mountain amenities, while nearby Jasper provides everyday conveniences. Google Maps is recommended for navigation to this property.

About Big Canoe: A private gated residential mountain community over 8,000 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains about 60 miles north of Atlanta (convenient for flights and rental cars – though a Jeep is recommended for the off-road trail with multiple creek crossings). The community features three private lakes, fishing, a beach, boat rentals, a 27-hole championship golf course, and a magnificent clubhouse. Amenities also include indoor and outdoor pools, a racquet club for tennis and pickleball (including indoor courts), four bocce courts, and a state-of-the-art wellness center offering personal training, group classes, a whirlpool, and a sauna. There are dog parks and 25 miles of hiking trails for all levels, including the challenging Nancy Womack Trail with multiple waterfalls. The area is rich with wildlife, most notably resident eagles, geese, and black bears.

Big Canoe is adjacent to the 28,000-acre Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area. It is located less than 10 miles from Amicalola Falls State Park (home of the Southeast’s tallest waterfall) and Springer Mountain (the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail). Additionally, it is 23 miles from the popular town of Dahlonega, 8 miles from the world-class Gibbs Gardens, and within hiking distance of Eagle’s Rest Park on Mt. Oglethorpe (the original southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail). A dozen notable wineries are located in the area. The community also features a multi-denominational chapel and a library. Big Canoe was named the 2011 AHBA Community of the Year, received the 2012 AHBA Best Amenity Package/500+ Units, won the NAHB Silver Award for Master-Planned Community of the Year in 2014, and received the Bliss Award for Best Hiking Community of the Year in 2015. It is also a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.
