Rhododendron Festival

The Rhododendron Festival returns to Hamilton Gardens at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee, Georgia, from April 12 to May 11, 2025. Open daily, the festival invites visitors to explore over 1,500 rhododendrons and native azaleas, the largest collection in the Southeast. Festival hours are Monday–Thursday from 11 AM to 3 PM, and Friday–Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. A $10 donation is requested to support Hamilton Gardens, with free admission for children 12 and under. Weekend activities include plant sales, garden tours, and featured artwork for sale. 

The Wine Bar and Food Court operate on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 4 PM, offering local wines and delicious bites.

Live music performances are scheduled every Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 3 PM, featuring artists such as Kilough, Wyatt Espalin, Anna Shinholster, Amanda Heinke, Troy Underwood, Zach Kilmer, Cody Marlowe, Mark Miller, Brock Lee, and Tom Edwards. Special events during the festival include the "Run for the Rhodos" 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, April 26, 2025, and the Top of Georgia Plein Air Festival from May 8 to 10, 2025, showcasing artists working in various mediums with a wet paint sale on May 10. 

Additionally, the Hiawassee Highlands Wine Festival is set for Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 11 AM to 5 PM, featuring music by Wyatt Espalin & friends, arts and crafts, food trucks, and tastings from over 30 wineries.
