Tucked into the lush wilderness of the Cohutta Mountains, the Bear Creek Trail is a favorite for hikers and mountain bikers seeking peaceful forest scenery, gentle elevation, and a touch of North Georgia history. Just outside of Ellijay, this 5.7-mile out-and-back trail winds through a canopy of hardwoods, past babbling streams, and leads to the star of the show: the Gennett Poplar, one of the largest living trees in Georgia.
