The word Amicalola comes from a Cherokee Indian word meaning “falling waters.” These popular 729-foot falls are the tallest east of the Mississippi River. An eight-mile approach trail also leads from the park to Springer Mountain, the southern end of the Appalachian Trail. Directions: From Blue Ridge, take Hwy 515 to Hwy 52 outside of Ellijay. Follow Hwy 52 to the left fork toward Dahlonega. | |
